The given article is about GIFs and how digital art is emerging into the world. It talks about how a specific GIF made by Michael Green was made as a commentary on the world famous Jeff Koons art piece labeled Balloon Dog. The original art piece was a twelve foot sculpture that was crafted by Jeff Koon’s employees. Then, Michael Green created a piece of digital art called the Balloon Dog Deflated that pictures the original sculpture deflating. The original sculpture piece sold for $58 million dollars. So, after Michael Green created this piece of digital art he originally put it on Ebay for $2,000 and even though there were originally no takers and then he bumped up the price to $5,800 to provide more of a statement about the original price of the Jeff Koon’s sculpture. It is interesting to see this article talk about the new worth being brought to the digital arts realm. This is interesting because the more recent topic of NFTs has launched this digital art craze. The world of digital art is now being recognized and priced as high as traditional art. This is good for the art world because now all the people who are creating the same quality of art but in the digital realm are getting recognized for their talents as well. Therefore since this article was written eight years ago the perspective was definitely more from a nuisanced position. Perspectives have changed and the world has become more appreciated of the digital arts world.
