This project was a very interesting one to complete. After watching John Cage’s 4:33 and Water concert it was fun to mess around with different sound bits. Listening to everyone’s sound bits they submitted was also very interesting to see. A lot of sounds were similar as they are taken from everyone’s white noises. This would include: laundry sounds, weather sounds, cooking, typing on a keyboard, etc. Then there were unique noises just like voicemails or super bowl commentary. My favorite sounds were the sounds of people talking or specifically people’s different voices because it was a more comfortable sounding and interesting sound to listen to. Based on that I originally wanted to make a relaxing “song” from these sounds, but then once I got in Adobe Audition and started playing around my theme quickly turned around. With playing around with effects I ended up going the more loud and obnoxious route. It was fun to create a more ‘out there’ song that was weird. Once I got into it I wanted to make a song that felt like you were in a black hole or tripping on drugs just a little too hard. I hope it conveyed what I hoped it would.
